This 500 bed hospital, Teaching Hospital of Peradeniya was completed in 1980 and does a valuable service to the area. Is another hospital where the students of the faculty of Medicine of university of Peradeniya, receive their clinical training. The plans for the building of this teaching hospital were initiated in the period of Professor Seneka Bibile Professor of Pharmacology, who was a former Dean of this Faculty of Medicine, of the Peradeniya University.
